I don't think they allow dogs on beaches on the east coast like Daytona or New Smyrna. Not sure where they would.

There are a couple of dog-friendly beaches in Pinellas County (St. Pete/Clearwater area). If you're interested in the specifics, I'll post them.

We take our dog to Flagler Beach. between Daytona and St Augustine. On leash and about 3 miles long to the pier. Wonderful beach restaurant there too that allows dogs on the patio.

Honeymoon Beach on the Gulf side is ok...not very big, no waves and you have to hike through weeds and signs that say Beware of Snakes!

North end of New Smyrna Beach at Ponce Inlet. There is a section north of the south sea wall. I think you have to park at the state park area and then walk the boardwalk to that area. Dogs love it.

We also take our dogs to Flagler Beach on the East Coast. We've found three restaurants that welcome dogs on the patio and bring them bowls of water.

Honeymoon Beach is the Clearwater area dog beach I was referring to. Not great...not bad. Near St. Pete is Fort DeSoto Park. Great park at the tip of Pinellas County with a beach segment set aside for dogs.

We've been there; this inlet part is gorgeous. Dogs must be on a leash, but you can have them on a very long line (as in throw ball out in the water and have enough rope to let them swim to get it). Don't know anything about dog-friendly restaurants in the area.

Two restaurants are across the road from Flagler Beach. One restaurant (closer to Ormand Beach) is on the east side of the highway, right on the beach.

We stayed at a Motel in Flagler Beach that loves dogs and even supplies a sheet for the top of the bed in case your dog is a bed sleeper. And they provide dog towels and places to bathe your dogs.

I've heard that Fort DeSoto is the ultimate dog beach, but we've never been there. We're lazy so we go to the closest beach and the dogs love all beaches, they're not choosy.

Jack's Snack Shack is one of them. Right across from the water tower.

It is a bit of a drive from TV but ..... Ft. Desoto Park in St. Petersburg has an excellent dog beach / park. It has both a fenced dog park and a section of beach that allows unleashed dogs!!

Ft. Desoto is located on the very southern tip of St. Pete and has wonderful Gulf & Bay beaches and views. It is also consistently ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the USofA.
