I've had both DirecTV and DISH Network while living in other states and found them to be about equal for picture quality, signal reliablility and equipment reliability. I basically switched back and forth between them as whatever provider I had at the time ran out its promotional prices and started to jump the prices up. I've been with DISH Network since moving to the Villages 6 years ago. Surprisingly, each time they've tried to raise the price, I've talked them into a better deal. Your mileage may vary. I would suggest listing out all the channels you prefer to watch and then check to see which of them carries those channels at a better price. You can also search online for Suppose.tv and have them figure out which streaming service (if you want to go that route) has the channels you want for the best price.
Satellite service do have an issue with heavy storms blocking the signals. That seems to happen mostly during the late afternoon summer thunderstorms here but I don't watch much daytime TV so it hasn't affected me much. You might find whatever cable services are offered in your niehgborhood might also give you the channels you want for as good or better a price than what you get from satellite provicers. Of course, they are just as likely to give great deals for the first year or so then bump up the prices. And all providers occaisionally have arguments with content providers and drop them for a while. DISH Network hasn't carried ABC in this area for several months now, for example. Good luck! |

I'm currently trying out Youtube TV (streaming service), and it is working pretty well for me so far. It costs a little less than Dish for mostly the same channels (and it includes ABC). I never had any real issues with Dish prior to losing the ABC network. |

same with me and dish.. lost ABC about 8 mos. ago then they got hacked and could not reach them when i had a problem.. I went back to Direct tv got a $200 debit card and also a $300 card for switching to DTV from Dish... i have been waiting 3 mos for the shippng box to send their equipment back.. I called again earlier today for thr 4th time and told them if I dont get a shipping box soon their crap is going out in the garbage.. they aslo billed me for a month I didnt get and are trying to charge me $20 a monthe for the 6 mos that was left on my contract.. I told them keep on trying and that it's amazing that you could not help your customers with problems but your billing dept. still works, i had already stopped auto-pay and cancelled out the credit card.. if they want the $$ they can sue me

I have direct tv , couple of days ago I came across Get TV it had Kojak ,Rockford Files , Magnum PI and many others , I always loved Kojak but was out of country most of time so didn’t see many , I would advise taping them because the very junky adds on it are numerous .

I dumped cable and satellite two years ago. I am down south in TV, and put up an antenna in my attic with a booster. I get all of the networks, and all of their subchannels, for free from Orlando. Plus some movie channels and H&I. Otherwise, I purchase the streaming services I want, and occasionally cancel them when I have caught up on the shows I want to watch, and start them up a few months later.
The question is, what do you watch? Is it available via antenna? Can you purchase streaming services that provide what you want for cheaper? |
