Default Daughter in law wants gift ideas for in-laws who just moved to TV

My in-laws have just moved to TV and are very excited. They pick up their golf cart this week. I would like to give Christmas gifts that might help them adjust to their new lifestyle, so any ideas are appreciated. Anything they might need or find handy, etc. Big or small, I am open to any ideas. Thanks so much!

tarchatt, welcome to the forum. What a wonderful, thoughtful idea to post a question here on what to get your inlaws. Where do they live and where did they move from? Do they have pets? Do they have hobbies?

Just moved in 10 weeks ago. Gift certificates to Home Depot or Lowe's-lots of pictures to hang and things are needed for every room. Gift certificates to restaurants as you spend lots of time eating out the first few months because you are so busy getting moved in and finding your way. Gift certificates to the college of life long learning-lots of fun classes to take. Hope they love their move.

They might appreciate their Executive Course Trail Fee paid by you. It is $141 for a year.

Put together a travel book with "coupons" for to areas in Florida. Places around The Villages such as the Stage Theater in Eustis, dinners or lunches in Mt. Dora, a state park pass for the year, a week at a beach resort such as Sanibel Island, a cruise to the Caribbean from Ft. Lauderdale.

If they are not members, what about a membership to Sam's Club. Not sure if they are golfers, but if they are just taking up the game, a certificate for lessons might be nice. Gift certificates to the movies are another suggestion. Do they bowl? You can get gift certificates for bowling...there are two bowling alleys in TV.
They might also enjoy membership at the local "gym"...MVP I believe it is called. Facility is in the Spanish Springs town center.

As for "things"....well, they'll probably be buying lots of things...furniture, home decor...you can always get certificates to some of the local furniture stores or Kirklands...lots of thing for the home purchased there.

You're a very thoughtful daughter-in-law.

How about a 1 year gift subscription to The Daily Sun newspaper?

Or, a gift certificate towards a solar tube? (The Solar Guys or Solar Lights & More-- are two local companies)

Given that they've just moved to TV, buy them a nice, sturdy checkbook cover and a box of ink pens.............

Tarchatt! Welcome.

You've gotten many great suggestions already-- not surprising here on TOTV.

Another thought is to get them one of the lamp post signs we Villagers put on our front-yard lamp posts. A vendor who sells them on the Squares also has a website where they can be purchased. Check out: http://fewebb.com/default.aspx.

If their golf cart doesn't have a dashboard that makes glove compartments for storage, that's also a nice item. These can be purchased from a cart dealer that sells the make/model of their cart. A compass and/or speedometer for the golf cart are also useful in TV.

Mercantile and Bealls both have shirts that say 'The Villages' on them, but none that say 'There is no pee in Lake Sumter'.

Did someone say a gift certificate at Lowes and/or Home depot for things like shelves in the loo, outdoor rug for lanai, and a million other things? (I just reread, yes they did!!) We just moved into our new home and find we are hanging out in the home improvement stores a lot.

It certainly is sweet of you to ask for suggestions!

If they don't already have one, a GPS for the car is very good to have.

Just thought of another one!
They need a frog!
(that's the universal symbol for permanent residence in The Villages)
