Default Crazy ants

How do you get rid of these? I thought they were under control with ant traps and dishes of white vinegar Now I find in the pantry. We have sprayed the outside and inside with bug killer stuff How often should that be done?

Do you have a pest control company? If so, call them.

If you don't have a pest control company - GET ONE!

I use Massey. No bugs at all!

We have a pest control BUT that said have had ants (not in over a year now) and were told that when it rains a lot they'll be forced inside. We use TERRO (sp) ant poison and use as directed. One of the points of entry for us was the window in the kitchen. I just put a bit on the cardboard piece and no more ants!!!

Sounds like excellent advice!

No, no, no! Get a pest control company just for ants??? That's insane!

First of all, there are a number of different types of ants and it's difficult to know which type unless you're an entomologist.

That being said, you have a couple of choices. When you buy ant traps, check the ingredients. There's probably a slight difference between manufacturers, but I don't know enough about insecticides. So you might want to use two different manufacturers. I have had good luck with that by buying different brands.

As NotGolfer mentioned, try Terro. Terro is terrific for certain ants and works like a charm. It's a clear liquid. Just put a few drops on a piece of just about anything -- a small piece of whatever, maybe 2" x 2" in size. By the next day. they're gone!

Good luck!

I had been told more than once by my pest control company not to do anything and let them take care of the problem. my pest guy will be out within 24 hours of a call and as respects ants they use a formula that carries back to colonies. your attempts interferes with the ants routine and can disrupt the effectiveness of the pest controls preventive measures

If you really want to solve your ant problem, go to Publix and buy this little bottle called Protexall Ant Kill. It's only 2 oz and sells for about $4.50. About two years ago a lot of posters had an ant problem because of a large rain storm. Another poster listed this product so we thought we give it a try since it is so cheap.

It's a liquid blue in color and somewhere near the activity, put a small puddle of this product, maybe an inch in size. The ants will actually come out of their habitat and drink this poison, it's like candy for them. Within a day you'll see 20 or 30 dead ants laying near the puddle. Clean it up and do it again until they are gone. Works like a charm, Best Product I've ever see!

No matter how careful I thought I was being about not leaving a picnic on the counter for those ants, I could not win. They showed up twice. I was done.

I called Deans. They immediately brought little traps. Done!

Ok, they are far more interesting in your home than in ours.

It is a PLAN with no significant brain-if you can think of it that way. I seem to recall reading that an ant can lift over 6x it's weight-no human can do that.

There is the nest built to support and house the queen. The queen is fed by the workers, and protected by specialized fighters. The queen is a pregnancy mill turning out the thousands of ants that you see. To get rid of them, you need to kill the queen. Unlike in chess, the queen herself kills the king.

That mentioned liquid from Walmart? In days of old it would have been a mixture of arsenic and sugar. They never explained why in old murder mysteries arsenic was the commonly used poison. I think it is no longer sold BUT if your food tastes like almonds, someone close is looking to collect on your insurance or does not know how to spell ant-aunt

Crazy ants are not your typical ant problem. They are a serious threat. Not from bites but from their sheer number and destruction of electric equipment. They invaded Texas in 2002 and are now here.

Mix Boric acid with a little flour and syrup make it watery, leave it near any trail of ants, they take it back and kill the queen. Make it a little firmer into marble size balls, kills roaches for a long time.
