The vent coming out of the wall is oval; the tube coming out of the dryer is round.
I did not find a connecter at Lowe's that will fit both sides. Why can't they both be round? (Please try and keep any rude comments to yourself, thank you) |

It’s a pain, but the vent tube has some flexibility and you can stretch it around the oval and then clamp it. I had to do mine a couple months ago. Why it isn’t round? That’s a good question.

To fit behind a wall built on 2x4 studs.

Never had one in any of houses and not in my current house. However, in my search, I read where they advise not to force connect the round end of the flexible connection tube to the oval. Reason sited that the heating and cooling cycles may cause a gradual loosening of that connection. I have my own thoughts but decided to pass it along for info. |

to me it looks like it was a round pipe but for some reason they squeezed the pipe into a oval shape and cut the opening to fit the oval shape

The wall pipe is the one with zig zags. That would slip inside of your flex pipe. It can also allow vent gas to slip out through the ripples. So that is why it must be sealed. There does not appear to be sufficient room to do that properly because the area needing sealing is out of reach inside the wall cavity. Moisture and CO (if a gas dryer) is a very bad thing in your wall and house. Moisture leads to mold. High CO leads to death. If you cannot seal it, this is a warranty problem. TV needs to install the piping properly.
That flex pipe appears to be the wrong type. Aluminum foil flex is not approved for dryer use because it's dangerous. For detailed reference info look at lsdvc (dot com) - a dryer vent cleaning company with DIY information about this topic; photos, descriptions, product info. |
