Default Citizens First Bank vs Credit Union

What does everyone say about Citizens First vs a credit union for a checking and savings account and credit cards
and why? Will be moving to the Villages full time later this year and currently use a credit union. But Citizens is so close at each mail box center. But the fees? Any opinion will be appreciated other than keeping my money under a mattress.

No fees but their online banking is stone age.

Default Citizens

There is a lot of hype about Citizens since it is owned by the developer/family. We remained with our bank from Virginia since it is a nation wide bank. We love our bank and never considered any other. They built a convenient location shortly after we moved here, so it is perfect!!!

To me, Citizens First is the best bank I have ever dealt with. No fees; ATMs everywhere; super friendly and helpful employees; lots of branches; and the free popcorn are all good reasons to go there.

Their on line banking is easy to use and is not stone age at all. You can do anything you want from it.

Not just popcorn, they also have apples and dress up for Halloween.

I love the online banking system! I pay my utility bills when I'm in Canada. I can even have Citizens mail a personal cheque for house watch, lawn care or house cleaning.

The online bill pay with Citizen's in fantastic. Free use of the copier if you need 1 or 2 copies of something. ATM's at every postal station.

Default Citizens First Bank

I opened an account at Citizens first just to have a ATM handy without having to pay fees. I will still keep my CR UN account here in IL just to give me time to make sure CFB meets all my needs. My CR Un has the same bill pay option as CFB and I will use the CFB bill pay to pay all the bills.

I have no equity interest in Citizens. I do in a number of other banks in the Middle Atlantic . Worked for 6 banks and ran 3 during a 43 year career. Have had accounts with Citizens for about a year. Find them to be very competent and helpful in all our various banking needs. Small town atmosphere not often found in regional and nationwide institutions.
The owners of Citizens(developer) have done an admiral job with this business and I suspect that most customers are well satisfied.

If convenience is important to you, and you like to use the ATMs, then Citizens might be the best for you. (I've never used an ATM in my life because I use my debit card to get cash at the stores where I shop.)

As far as fees, I do my banking at BB&T and have never paid a fee of any kind.

As far as bank interest, forgetaboutit. If you want a good return on your money, buy some shares of stock in a company that pays a good dividend.

I am with Navy Federal CU. They do not charge a fee at the Mailbox ATM (Citizens) or at Publix if I use my NFCU card. I also opened a free checking at Citizens just to auto pay my mortgage, electric, & water. I have only been to the NFCU office near Orlando once in two and a half years. That was to pick up a certified check I needed on short notice.
