Default Bahama style storm shutters

We would like to install Bahama style storm shutters on our Bedroom windows. I cannot find anyone local to purchase from. Has anyone had experience buying and installing in TV?? Thanks in advance.....

Default Storm shutters

The reason storm shutters
are difficult to find is most residents of The Villages do not see a viable need for them given our location several miles from either coast of Florida. After over 15 years in TV, I’m not aware of any “outlet” for such an item near TV. I would suggest looking at Daytona Beach, Melbourne or Tampa Bay area for storm shutters. Locally, perhaps Home Depot or Lowe’s might be able to order you storm shutters from one of their coastal locations . Good luck.

I have no idea what "Bahama style storm shutters" are, but if these are OUTSIDE the house make sure you get ARC approval before you order/install, I am sure these would require approval. I was thinking you were looking for something on the INSIDE of the house to block sunlight, which would not require approval.

Home Depot, search Bahama Shutters and yes, you will need ARC approval but I've seen a few houses with them.

I just got done installing them on all our windows (4). We got them more for the look of them however the shade will be nice. We applied for approval from the Villages but they sent the paperwork back saying approval is not required for shutters but no neon colors allowed. Be forewarned that if you have a block built home drilling the holes over the windows I a major task. Getting through the masonry is not to tough with masonry bit in a hammer drill. However about an inch in you will hit very hard steel. Once you get to that switch to cobalt bits. Then when you finally get through the steel switch back to the masonry bits. This is one of those projects I wonder if I should have paid for installation. I had the shutters custom made by Palm coast shutters in Vero beach. It took about 5 months to be finished but they are beautiful. They also will match any color which is awesome. Good luck

You're correct. On block homes, there are steel lintels above the windows and sliders, as well as the lanai openings. They are a beyotch to drill though.
