Default Assisted living facilities?

Does anyone have first hand knowledge of any of the numerous local, Assisted Care facilities. Doesn't have to be located on TV property, just fairly close to TV. TIA :-)

Call Amy Cearley 352 205 9316

She does tours of assisted livings. Tell her Jane referred you. She runs a Senior Resource Center. She does not charge.

Mission Oaks (301) in Oxford, is excellent, in my opinion.

I visited 7 facilities before deciding on Sumter Place. Buffalo Crossings is run by same company, both have great layouts. I am happy with the staff, mother food is great and it is less money than the place we moved Dad from in MN. Ask for Paige.

Second for Mission Oaks (301 between 466a and 466), had my mother in law there in the dementia unit, and they took very good care of her. My wife is a nurse, and she selected the facility.

Default assisted living facility

Mission Oaks is great. I visited quite a few before putting my Mom in there. Their prices are much lower than other places located in The Villages.

My mother is at Brookdale in Lake Tavares, based on all of the other facilities around the Villages, they were by far the most affordable. 35 minute trip from the Villages.

Have a good friend at Sumter Place. Excellent conditions and staff. If I ever need one that is where you can find me. And we too found their rates lower than facilities of lesser quality up in Ohio and Pa.

Beware of the contract terms and additional charges for care. Some charge for care even when you are not in the facility. Some have various types of care charges and a scale which they place your loved one on. The facility can reassess and change the charges in some cases. Ask the residents whether the call buttons are answered in a timely fashion. See if the meals are appealing and the selections to your loved ones taste. Check to see if there are always snacks available. Who is their physician or nurse practitioner and how often do they come into the facility. Do they take the residents to doctor's appointments. What is their activity schedule and would it appeal to your loved one. Do they accept Medicaid if you think you may need it. Look at the occupancy rate. If there are many empty rooms, be wary. Ask some of the staff how long they have worked at this location.

Check on how well they clean the building. Look at air vents, top of doors etc. The assumption is that if they are doing detail cleaning they are probably not skimping in other areas.

Hi, the Buffalo units north of 466, near Red Lobster are very nice, so it seems.. We do not live there, we do volunteer there and it seems to be very clean and well organized and some very caring persons work there.
