Default Another Hardware Store--Sparr Building Supply

For anyone living South of 466a, there's a convenient place to buy hardware items or for a guy to easily spend an hour just browsing. Sparr Building Supply has plumbing, irrigation, electrical, paint, lumber, tools, pet food, and just about everything else you might need from Lowes or Home Depot. but don't want to make the trip. I guess a farm supply might be more accurate to describe Sparr, tucked away at the end of Powell Rd and 44. If you didn't know it's there, you could easily miss it.

Of course, there's also Ace Hardware in Wildwood on the East side of 301 about 1/2mile South of 466a. it's in an old abandoned shopping Center opposite Hardees, another store very easily missed.

I wouldn't call the location of Ace Hardware an abandoned shopping center. There is a Post Office, barber, flooring store, Save-a-Lot grocery store and a furniture store and a couple of others. Try them all. We have and have been pleased with what we've found.

There's also one of the most interesting antique stores there. If you visit, make sure you have at least a couple of hours to browse.

We've been going to Sparr for a couple of years now. It's an interesting store, seems to have what we need and getting there is a breeze. One thing....when the baby chicks arrive.....what a noise....LOLOLOL.

There's even a shortcut to that shopping center. Turn left off of 466A on Gamble St, just before you get to 301. At the stop sign turn right and the shopping center parking lot will be on your left.

We go to sparr's a lot when we're down there, Got all of our house paint there, weed and feed fertilizer.and lots more. The only thing I couldn't get there was the large air filter for the furnace, but they said they were trying to get hooked up with a dealer so they can have them available for customers. Nice store and friendly people, and not much traffic to deal with.

Very friendly and helpful people! You can also exchange your propane tanks and get 24 hour ice.

I agree, I wouldn't call that shopping center abandoned.....I think Radio Shack is there too. I've been to the Ace Hardware there and the Post Office.

The Sparr is a lot like Farm and Fleet stores in Illinois.
