Does anyone have any first hand experience cleaning a glass top stove easily?
There are many solutions on youtube. click here
I don't want to try them all out.
I have used that little blue pad with the Afresh Sample and it does work but it takes a lot of effort and time. I'm inclined to use a razor blade on the flat but others told me, don't even think about it. [but when they are not around, i have been thinking about it---shhhhhhh]

Any thoughts?

I used Bar Keepers Friend daily. I cook a LOT. If I clean the stove top daily, with the stove top sponge and Bar Keeps Friend, I rarely have to do any scrubbing.

Bar Keeps Friend also works great on the glass of an oven.

when the top looks a little dingy because of spills and debre.....i use a razor blade, on its side, simply move it round the edges of the burner, pressing slightly on the side of the razor and this scrapes up the debre.

then simply rinse again with water or windex for shine.....or the cream that came with the stove and back to perfection...

I have never had a problem with the razor, no scratches on me or the stove top.

We've been using Ceramabryte for years. Pour a little on the cooktop, use either a wet sponge or wet paper towel to clean, then use a wet paper towel to wipe up and sometimes a dry paper towel afterwards to "shine it up". No problems and works great. Not sure where all it's sold, but we usually get it at Lowes.

I'll try out everything.
I have removed paint on a window many times with a razor, so I thought it would be ok. I just wasn't sure if the stove top glass was something other than glass, some other kind of special glass that was softer. I had the same concern with steel wool.
If you know what I mean.

There's actually a plastic type of razor blade made specifically for countertops. Magic Eraser and a wet paper towel take care of most problems for me.

I'm really surprised that doesn't leave scratches. SOS must be made of very fine steel wool.

I used to use 000 steel wool to polish chrome parts but I always thought that SOS was coarser than that.

Agreed. We used a single-edge razor blade on a cook top in a previous home. Never scratched the surface and it was always shiny.

Have had an electric glass top stove most of my life. The Weiman liquid (not spray) glass top cleaner and polisher works best. Apply it, let it sit for 30 seconds and wipe off with paper cloth. Any hard built up burns can be scrapped off with a straight razor or plastic edge scraper. Weiman product is available at any supermarket or hardware store. I would not use steel wool or any other abrasive product on a glass top.

A trick I found on the internet last year when I needed to sell my house--and it's very cheap!

Mix baking soda and just a little water together to form into a paste. Then for baked on glass oven grime, put it down for 15 minutes, then clear off. What little remains, repeat, except this time after 5-10 minutes begin circular patterns with your finger on the glass or ceramic, then just wipe off. This works on glass cook tops too.

This method will not form tiny scratches on the glass!

The stove top cleaners are two to three times the cost of a can of Barkeeper's Friend or Bon Ami, and both work great on glass top stoves.

Then again, a bottle of Ceramabryte lasted me almost two years.

So there ya' go.

This house has the first glass cook top I have ever used. I was scared to death that I would ruin it by cleaning it incorrectly. I did a bunch of research and Cermabryte is what I ended up with. I like the fact that it was made specifically for glass cook tops.

It is easy to use and not much is needed to do the job.

Gracie, I was shocked to see that you used SOS! I would have never been that brave. But obviously it works beautifully. You always have good info!! I may give that a try if I ever run out of the Cermabryte.
