Default "Actual" Garage Door Repair company? (NOT R. Cull)

OTHER THAN RYAN CULL who told me "I only do springs" when I called him it seems where the front of the track of my OPENER where it attaches to the front of the garage wall is pulling away from the wall. Looks like the 2 lags aren't into a beam because they just spin if I try to tighten them. The opener or track likely needs to be removed and some kind of wood reinforcement needs to me mounted in front of it but there doesn't seem to be any space unless the entire opener is moved back a couple inches.

I noticed every time I opened/closed my door white dust fell on my car's rood. It seems the moving "trolly" has raised up a few inches and is rubbing on the ceiling scraping off painted wallboard which is what is falling on my car.

Anyone recommend an actual repair person/company? Seems the whole opener needs to be removed. It's a pretty new WI-FI, battery back-up & belt driven unit just 3 years old.

You did a very good job of showing us the problem. As a DIY I would use an epoxy glue in the hole and a little bigger bolt. But since there is a lot of pressure on the joint I would have no confidence that it would work.

Normally I would DIY but as it turns out, it was not installed correctly from the start. There is supposed to be a piece of hard wood between the header bracket and the wall but it wasn't done (long story there). Now in order to put that thick piece of wood behind it the entire opener needs to be taken down and moved back about 1 1/2 inches or the track won't fit. Just didn't want to deal with it as a likely 1 or 2 hour job would take me 12 hours, torn knuckles and cause my wife to hide in the closet while I yell and curse as I drop all the tiny screws on the polka-dotted epoxy floor where nothing can be seen after it hits the ground and travels to places unknown. I'm learning from experience that sometimes the savings just ain't worth it.

OP, I forgot to ask, how old is your house, I should have told you to contact home warranty, and complain directly to them and have them arrange for the repair.

I wish! Old enough to be well past warranty. That plus the garage had been widened from 1 1/2 car to 2 car ~3 yrs ago and new double garage door and new belt drive opener installed which would have eliminated any warranty even if it was still under a warranty. No such luck!

I would imagine if that’s studded 2 by 4 wall. The drywall will have to be cut out to expose the two 2x4s on each side. Support block installed (2x6, 8 or 10?) Anchored to wall studs, for flush anchor, and dry wall section repaired. Now you would have an correct anchor for the track. If that wall had metal studs O my? Anyway that what I would probably do. I’m guessing at minimum 6 hour job.

2 BIG "thumbs up" for Scott (Scott's Garage Door Service). Great communication, on-time, highly knowledgeable, well stocked in parts on his truck and fairly priced. If your issue is more than just "broken springs" give him a call. I mention "broken springs" because of all the recommendations to call Ryan "I only do springs" Cull, who, only does springs !!!!
