Default Mazzaros Italian Market

Today we visited Mazzaro's Italian Market in St Pete. Wow! It was incredible. We had a delicious lunch and brought desserts and pasta home. It is an actual market that sells wines, meats, cheeses, pastry, a coffee bar, produce and anything you can imagine from Italy. The hours are 9:00-6:00, Mon-Fri and until 2:3o on Sat. They sell mostly sandwiches for lunch. We will definitely return.
They have web site if interested.

Yes, it was a unique place to visit. Loved their fresh mozzarella. Was there a couple years ago and had the unfortunate experience of waiting too long to eat the pasta. It had bugs in it.

Default Here's a link to their website.

Mazzaro's Italian Market - Italian Deli, Italian Bakery, Gourmet Cheese & Wine, Meat Deparment, Pasta, Seafood, FL, Florida > Home

If you are travelling U.S.19 going north from St. Pete, stop by Surf & Turf in Palm Harbor. Best place to get meat in the Tampa Bay area IMHO. Great kabobs, bacon wrapped filets, and filled chicken breasts. Harr's Surf and Turf Market of Palm Harbor

Have not been there in a few years though so things could have changed.

can't help ya about the bread BUT for bagels...brooklyn water bagels villages crossroads shopping center - intersection of rolling acres and 27/441 - store is south of the heavenly ham store at southern end of the mall strip of stores. you will NOT regret the visit! and don't forget to ask for a freezer bag if ya buy more than a couple!

as far as cakes - we thoroughly enjoy the publix bakery - check out their catalog - the chocolate ganache cake is outta site [if ya like chocolate!] and the fresh fruit custard tart - yummmmm!

just remembered about bread - my husband enjoyed the fresh breads fron fresh market on rt 466 in the buffalo ridge shopping area. i don't eat it so i can only offer his opinion and am not sure about french bread being sold there.

It is a little far from TV but if you ever get over to New Smyrna Beach there is a truly French bakery called Mon Delice. It is on RT-44 and here is a link to their web page. Home Page

This place is truly incredible. The baked goods are oh so good. Read about the French owners on the web site. The first time I went into their old location all the workers spoke French.

Be advised the earlier in the day you can get there the better the selection as they do only make so much and a lot of times they sell out. At least that has been my experience. You can also order your breads and they will have them saved for you. Holiday are very busy for them so plan ahead.

This is just one of those places that is truly a rare find.

If ever I am anywhere close to there I will drive out of my way to stop in and pick up a few things. It is well worth the trip.

The location is right on RT-44 that becomes Third Ave in New Smyrna Beach. It is just over the south causeway bridge as you head to the beach.

Another great market is Cacciatore Brothers in Tampa. Less touristy than Mazzaro's. Link is cacciatorebros.com

Another vote for Brooklyn Water Bagels -- they are to die for! Will be back to have some more of their excellent bagels in October -- yum yum!
