Default Biltmore Estates

My daughter and I would like to tour the Biltmore in North Carolina. Has anyone made the trip by bus or train from The Villages to Asheville?

After brief research, train to Asheville I couldn't get there from here. Bus would not be impossible (but difficult) and I would not recommend it for you and daughter.

That said, if you are not opposed to flying, there are direct flights from Sanford to Asheville at reasonable prices. You could drive it in one day---about 9 hours or so. If you are a AAA member, they could help. Good luck. We have been to the Biltmore and it's a great place to visit.

I would suggest visiting in cooler weather as it is not air conditioned.

How would you get from the town to the estate? Rent a car?
I would call the hotel on the property and see how you can visit without a car. They might have a bus that goes around the property. Best I can remember we got around by using our car.

Went there a couple of Augusts ago. Asheville is much cooler than here. Around 80 during the day and 60's at night.

Not sure what time of year you plan on going, but if you are there over the Christmas holidays, the Biltmore is beautiful!! Christmas trees in all the rooms, carolers. They sell tickets in advance and "flight" the tickets by time of day so that it's not too crowded and to avoid long lines.

I just came back from a day in Asheville a few hours ago as we also own a Mtn home close by in Sevierville TN. Beautiful weather, 80 degrees, slight breeze and sunny. Biltmore Estates is always wonderful but be sure to stay at least a couple more days in this city to see more. Spend a day walking around all the downtown artsy shops (more artists in Asheville per capita than anywhere else in the US!) and try some restaurants with ethnic food from all corners of the world. Everyone needs to spend at least one night's stay in the historic Grove Park Inn (where many celebrities & Presidents have stayed) and if you really want to splurge spend a day relaxing in it's glorious underground spa and pools, which are rated one of the top 10 spas in the US!

You could fly into the Asheville airport but it would probably be via Charlotte if you are flying in from Orlando. Just rent a car once you get there as the city is easy to navigable with a map or GPS. You will have a great time at Biltmore and in Asheville!
