I have used Priceline several times, bidding from my home computer. Priceline has a new app for the iPhone, and that's where the trouble began. I bid on a hotel in Chattanooga for the same night, and after I'd initialed and given my payment info, the app came back with "Houston we have a problem". That stayed on the screen until it timed out. I assumed it did not go through, and entered another bid 5 minutes later. That bid went through quickly. Of course, I ended up with two rooms, same city, same night. When I discovered that had happened I immediately called Priceline customer service. I've talked to several "customer service" reps, and they all have no authority. I started looking at customer complaints in the internet, and Priceline has hundreds of complaints going back to 2000. It's the same response from Priceline on ALL the situations. NO refunds, no senior management to talk to, etc.

People have been known to get the credits back, but it has taken a fight. Best bet is with the bank. We are retailers and have unfortunately been on the wrong end, with people using things, bringing them back, and cancelling the charge. Since the merchants are the ones paying the 2%, we'd think that the card folk would 'do the right thing' well, in the case of Price line, once your finger hits that key, they getcha. speakin' of iPhones.... make very sure you kill the data roaming setting before the wheels go down outside the USA. We've heard horror tales in the thousands for a 9 day trip overseas. The Ipad (3G) is a whole 'nuther story. You can get a data card on a European system that's less than the US rates, and you can go by the day, week, month. Good luck, keep trying, your bank wants your biz hopefully L and L

I had entered a major problem with Priceline in an earlier thread, and I'm happy to report, after finally finding a name, and guessing what her email might be, I sent a long, detailed email to the Senior Vice-President of Operations and Customer Service. Her department quickly refunded my money because of the Priceline computer error. I'm happy, but it's a shame that it took a lot of time and effort on my part to resolve a problem that should have been taken care of on the front line of Customer Service.

I had a good experience getting a refund from Priceline. I had bid for a hotel in Palm Springs, CA and ended up getting a hotel that was undergoing major reconstruction. The lobby and restaurant were closed and guests comments were that construction noise was all night.
After finding this out, I contacted Priceline and commented that they should not allow that Hotel to bid in the class I was asking for. They checked it out and refunded my charge. For the record , I have been using Priceline for St Augustine. I pick the resort and there is only one hotel which is at The World Golf Village (The Renaissance) I try to get it with a $75 Bid during the week. If I can't get the price I do not go. It is great being retired. |
