How to pronounce Qatar | CNN Travel
I am never going to be able to do this properly! I could never even role by Spanish "Rs". I did have an Iraqi friend while in the Graduate Librarianship program at the U of Denver in 1983-1984. He was from the U of Mosul in Iraq. He worked at their library for decades. I do recall he tried to teach me some Arabic phrases but I never quite got them right. |

On a cruise, we met a young Australian woman who was a nanny to the royal family of Qatar. She joined the cruise in Greece to spend time with her mother who was in our group. She pronounced it “kuh TAR with the accent on the second syllable. I expect she should know.
