Default Mission Resort Golf

Sad.

Played today.

Greens were fine.
Around the greens and around the paths were terrible.
Tee boxes need work.
Absolutely not sand in traps............mostly mud.
Pace of play was slow...........no rangers.

Lunch after gave the place two out of the three starts.
Good Food.
Friendly staff.

Can't imagine the club members putting up with the conditions.

Will be a long time before returning or recommending.

Mission Inn, in Howey in the Hills? El Campeon or Las Colinas?

Usually top notch condition. Thanks for the warning.

Bummer, you could have jumped into your golf cart and driven a few minutes for that.

Before spending time to play off-campus, always check the recent reviews on the internet. I always do.

So it’s not just the Villages and their terrible ground crews. Others courses have also had hard times this last winter.

Ditto, thanks for the update. Been around long enough to remember when Mission Inn was absolutely top notch resort, really "classy" ! Has very gradually declined over the years to average in every category. Once employed TOP chefs also.

We played Las C.
In all fairness..............There was a USGA Qualifying on El C.
I can't imagine El C was in the same condition for this event.

Las C covers over twice the area for 18 holes, so maybe it's jus too much land to maintain.

We were the third group off in the morning..........the first group was an issue, with no Ranger Ricks patrolling.

I would describe Las Colinas as "under construction".
Will be +2 years on 4 or 5 holes with a couple years on the rest of the holes.

Maybe a brave sole will play El Campeon and update this thread.

I drove over with high expectations.
It began classy.
Nice bagboy, with instructions & directions.
Nice lady in pro shop.
Very nice pro shop.
Great putting green.
Fine driving range.
Great looking and playing first hole.
All smiles (which is difficult for me to do).

Slowly went down hill.......just noticing small things.
Kinda grumpy midway thru first nine.
Ready to head home on the back nice.

The sun came up this morning.
The coffee is good.
I live in The Villages.
Life is good.

Great views, goofy golf course. Nice Clubhouse.

When I hit a driver on a Par 4, 80-100 yards off my line and it ends up in fringe of the correct green, it's not my kind of course.

Sort of like that funky blind Par 4 at Cane Garden (I think it's the 4th on Allamanda). First time I played it, I hit a Driver Semi-Shank 150 yards off line ... made Birdie.

I won't bother with Granite Links again.

(I wonder what they did with all the cars they had to haul out of the Quarry?)

They do what they do with all quarries that run that deep...GL specifically, you put 10 yrs worth of Big Dig fill over it's remains!

I know how they filled it, but I remember a controversy over getting the cars out, before they started filling. Probably a Billion Dollars worth of Insurance Claims at the bottom of that quarry.
