You are right, get quotes. They all have different levels of business at any time so their desire for your business and price will vary. I had my house done 2 years ago and had $2,500 difference in quotes for same job. Ended up with Quality Services and was very pleased with their product. Also use BBB to check how they rate.

Just a year ago I had a storm related issue with my 5 year old roof'
Called the warranty dept..they instructed me to call Sack roofing
Which I did and spoke with a nice woman in sales she said a roofing tech would contact me.
We'll after 5 similar calls and broken promises over a 2 week period
I called EPIC they came right out assessed the situation gave me a reasonable quote preformed the necessary repairs
Still waiting to hear from Sack Roofing
