Default Too much salt at Panera

Panera is a great place, but they use way too much salt in their soups. I have tried to complain that many seniors need to limit their salt intake but they were not sympathetic. I then tried their main office and a customer rep listened and said I would get a reply in a couple of days. That was several weeks ago and I'm still waiting. Perhaps more villagers should complain.

Show me ANY restaurant whose soup isn't salty. Don't think you should pick out Panera. The soups at Crispers are salty, the soups at Olive Garden are salty. It's even tough to make a soup at home that isn't salty.

You can look up the nutritional value online for most chain restaurants. In fact if you look up Panera's: http://www.panerabread.com/pdf/nutr-guide.pdf you'll notice that many of their sandwiches have more sodium.

Also remember that many people do not have sodium restrictions and even those that do it is usually around 2g per day. Very restricted might be 1.5g. So go ahead and have that less than 1g soup (they have 8 that fit the bill). But be careful what else you have for the day

Since I dramatically reduced my salt consumption last year, everything seems too salty except the things I make myself from scratch. Not a thing you can do about it except eating at home or at a friend's house.

Really, if one wants to eat out, then one has to account for additional salt and fat intake. If you want less, then eat at home. Cook your own food. It is better for you and portion conrtol is perfect. To me, going out to eat is still a treat and privilage. Call me old fashioned, but if one goes out then one has to control the following day.
