Thumbs up Magnolia's Oyster Bar-Leesburg

My wife and I have been itching to try Magnolia's Oyster Bar in Leesburg since we moved to TV. For some reason we always forget about it. We were at the pool today and I saw the ad in the Daily Sun for Magnolia's Wednesday & Saturday Special: A bucket (30) fresh shucked oysters for $10 (3-7 PM). Since we didn't have dinner plans, we decided to finally give it a try.

The place was a little hole-in-the -wall bar and I think my wife was a little skittish when we first got there, but the waitress was excellent, promptly took our drink order ($1 domestic drafts during happy hour) and we ordered a bucket of oysters and some garlic cheese bread. Our order came out promptly--the oysters were excellent and served with plenty of crackers, horseradish, and cocktail sauce. The garlic cheese bread was excellent but the portion size was more than we anticipated so we actually ended up ordering too much food.

They have a small courtyard and offer both indoor and outdoor dining.

This is not a fancy place, but the service was excellent, the food was great, and the price was very reasonable. We might be making it our regular Wednesday dinner spot.

Thanks for the "Heads Up". Sounds perfect.

How are the oysters served? I am accustomed to sitting at a bar while the oysters are being shucked as you eat. What other menu choices are there for those that do not eat oysters?

You can sit at the bar where they are shucked. We chose to eat outside. They also have a small inside dining area that is a little quieter than the bar.

Oysters are served either raw (our favorite) or steamed. Don't remember a lot of the menu since we went primarily for the oysters, but it looked pretty extensive. I know they had peel and eat shrimp, burgers, chicken sandwiches. They serve a blue crab special on Fridays (3-7PM), I think they're $1.50 each (minimum of four crabs). We haven't tried the crabs yet, but we will.

I like them steamed so would they steam, shuck them and bring them to the table in the shell, bowl or how? I'm familiar with how they serve raw on the half shell but never had steamed oysters any other way than them shucking them as you eat them. Guess I just need to go and find out! Crabs sound wonderful!

The Ocean Grille is run by the same family I think, and they have the same special (30) bucket for $10 on Mondays. Very good oysters shucked in front of you or steamed if you like em that way too. Also check out the Tue and Thur. whole steamed 1 1/4 lb lobster for $10.99 with veggies, salad, and bread. Nothing fancy but the coldest drafts around and other seafood goodies. A real shorts and tee shirt place, and not as hot inside as Magnolia's was.

They run ads in The Daily Sun too.

You can find several pictures from Magnolia's on their Facebook page. BTW, where do you park when you go there.

It will definetly be on our list however probably not Wednesday nights because $5 Bang Bang Shrimp at Bonefish is on our Wednesday list.

So many restuarants, so little time.

Magnolia's special is Wednesdays and Saturdays. Catskillbill wrote above that Ocean's Grill has the Monday oyster special (I haven't been to Ocean's Grill yet, but we'll be going).

We found a spot kitty corner across the street (on street parking, no meters). There were several spots available there.

I was able to find their full menu online:

It doesn't reflect their oyster or crab specials, but it does include some happy hour prices.

Is Ocean Grille also in Leesburg? Sounds yummy.
