Ilive on a golf course with a preserve to the left of me and every evening around dusk an owl can be heard in the trees at the back of my home calling to another owl. To be able to live surrounded by wildlife is a pure joy.

Another great photo Ron Clark...the person that takes the photos for the Daily Sun could learn a lot from you

Madelaine, did you know that many Native American cultures believed that it was bad luck to hear an owl...as it was believed that a death would occur

I miss the hearing the call of the Loon

Default Florida Great Horned Owl

Beautifully framed picture! We live on a golf course just south of 466A and there is a 'mated pair' of Florida Great Horned that habitually visit our area. It is quite fantastic to see their chicks and watch as they learn to fly and 'communicate' with their parents.Coming from northern New York, it has been a long time since I've seen Great Horned Owls. What a pleasure.

Toughest bird in the forest. A Great Horned Owl will chase eagles, even Osprey. Their talons are so strong they can break a 1-inch oak branch.

We had Barred Owls for neighbors in Illinois, loved hearing them. We haven't heard any (yet?) in Alhambra.
