On our walks and drives I have seen some beautiful brick patios ( with 3-4 ft walls ) front and in back yards. I am assuming that is a costly project but I am interested in getting quotes. Anyone here have a brick patio that would like to share who they used and how much you paid? ( I know size/shape etc plays a role in the price ) And yes whatever I decide I need Arc approval. Thanks

IMHO, you might also get quotes on concrete pads, and then painted (stained) with concrete specific paint to look like cobble stone or bricks. I would not get concrete and then THIN brick pavers as these tend to crack. Great care needs to be taken to install a brick patio or walkway if you do not have a suitable base, the bricks will shift and become uneven. Also, check to see where you irrigation lines are located, these are NOT allowed under concrete pads, and there may be a concern under bricked areas.
Hope this helps, good luck with your project.

Luis Landscaping did 2 patios on my 2 different houses I have had in the Villages. He did about a dozen in our neighborhood. Everyone very pleased with Luis and his team.

I love the look of the brick patios, but after having 2, just not a fan. As they age, no matter the underlying base, you will have some uneven areas. As an older community it isn’t pleasant to walk on.
Second the weed stop liner, wears out, and you next avenue is painstakingly pulling weeds, or spraying them. We had pavers around our last pool, the new pool, will have concrete deck, I’m not pulling any more weeds.

Luis Landscaping did 2 patios and driveways for me since I moved to the villages. He did over a dozen in our neighborhood. Highly recommend him.

If settling and weeds are a major problem with a brick paver walkway or driveway, it was improperly installed. |

One of the worst examples of improperly installed brick was on the south entry road to BJ's. |

Just a patio, and 3’ around outside of our pool area, between 3-5 years weeds came up, just like at the newer family pools here that are less than a year old, and tiny weeds are coming up between the pavers. I am guessing the developer used someone competent.

OP, I would ask any contractor who quotes to allow you to inspect at least 3 projects that they completed more than 5 years ago.

Why would anyone guess that the Developer used competent, professional sub-contractors, when they have a long line of buyers at their door?
If you read any threads on folks' experience with TV's builders, you'd see that efficiency and speed are the priorities, not quality. |
