Although, it's not something you can eat a lot of; I decided I would just eat a teaspoon or tablespoon of it before breakfast.

After a few days of doing this, I noticed it was getting more and more difficult to empty my bladder. There was no doubt in my mind what was causing this so I disposed of the remaining portion of cranberry sauce.

I've heard that cranberry juice is recommended to women who get bladder infections. That may be true but it doesn't necessarily mean that cranberries are good for men. Or maybe it's just me. After I discontinued eating the tart cranberries, bladder emptying went back to normal.
You're much more brave....tried one little cooked berry....way too tart, and tart is a taste I generally like. I do enjoy cranberry sauce, seems we did have it more often than just holidays around our house when I was growing up. Ocean Spray processing plant was about 20 or so miles from my town and berry bogs were always interesting to watch over time. When I was a kid, I was sure those flooded bogs were very, very deep....

The next time I go to the store, I will. When I posted this thread I wasn't in the store. But I figured I could find out by searching the internet. Ocean Spray shows part of their label, the part that gives the percentages of this and that. It's all zeros except for sugar. Sugar = 21 grams.

They didn't show the ingredient part of the label, but if my memory serves me right all the sugar comes from either corn syrup or high fructose corn syrup. I remember looking at the label several years ago.

I appreciate the healthy eating agenda. It's hardly trolling. When people post about their golf cart batteries (just an example), I'm not interested, so I move on.

Got me googling cranberry sauce/relish. There are some recipes out there using all sorts of things to ease away from the sugar....pineapple, strawberries, even vinegar, plus the usual assortment of artificial sweeteners(which are no better, actually worse, than the sugar).

Like someone else said, it's once a year. Fresh Market has the BEST cranberry relish.
