Don’t know about Leesburg BUT I had 2 bad experiences at the villages in which doctors were terrible. Nursing staff was excellent. Required tests were not performed and stated I can get them after I leave. The hospital went in for a procedure they only completed 40% of the procedure after being released following up with the same Doctor Who does not take my coverage was ridiculous. Everybody is not on Medicare, they need to take this into consideration when hiring these so-called professionals I now travel to Ocalla and go to AdventHealth, which so far has been excellent.

I spent 5 days in Leesburg Hospital this past February for a gastric bleed. I could not have asked for better care.
I'm not sure of the reason for negative reviews, but my experience was a positive one. |

Since June 26 of last year I’ve been in the Villages hospital three times for extended stays. Excellent care. My last visit was March 15th and then I noticed increased staff and even an improvement in the food service. Nurses and doctors were top notch professionals. I feel most complaints are the long wait in the ER where people could go to an urgent care but don’t have the money so the ER is overran with non payers. Shands, The Villages hospital as well as Leesburg are all now ran by the UF and I feel improvements are being made quite frequently. I’d return to all three if my life depended upon it.

Don't believe all the bad reviews that you read. If they were all accurate, the Leesburg Hospital would be called the Leesburg Morgue. Same in the Villages ..... we don't have The Villages Morgue.
So take everything with a grain of salt. |

I recently had my gallbladder removed at The Villages Hospital and have no complaints. Everyone from the ER doc and staff, to the second floor for pre-op, the radiology dept for several tests, to the surgical and pos-surgical teams were all excellent. My nursing care was responsive and caring. I'm sure people have had problems there, but I've learned to ignore the negative reviews on everything from hotels to cruise ships. They are mostly wrong or intentionally misleading in my experience.

I had a “30 min” procedure at Leesburg that took over two hours and I almost died. I spent five days in ICU and two weeks in the hospital. The care I received was not good.

They took me right in and ordered all tests and had them completed quickly. Everyone was extremely friendly and treated me very well.

Unfortunately, I had to use the Village Hospital three times and they were excellent. The problem we have here is the hospitals are too small and they don't pay well the three Encinitas that I had. I had excellent doctors and excellent care.

I was initially admitted to the Leesburg hospital with a serious staff infection. After 3 days I transferred to Advent Rollins. Incredible difference, both in the quality of the facility and medical care. The assembled medical team at Advent, included an Invasive neurologist, invasive cardiologist, cardiologist, and infectious disease specialist. After conducting many MRIs and Cat Scans, the team concluded that all test performed at Leesburg were useless due to the poor quality of the images. My wife and I now agree that if either of us need emergency care, and the ill person can get in the car, we are headed to Orlando and Advent.

The ratings generally reflect conditions 2-3 years ago. It takes the rating agencies that long to gather and analyze the data. I don’t believe that just because the ratings are published by Medicare they are age biased; they represent the local patient populations.

Bottom line: Every hospital is as bad as “people” say they are———-until you need them
