Default Home Meal Delivery

Have aging parents (88 and 90) who are at the point they need home meal delivery. Would like references and experience by others in The Villages.

services vary depending on exact needs. but you might start by checking operation homebound out of northlake preybyterian church for home delivery of prepared meals. primarily for folks who can't get out at all.
or if they prefer grocery store easily prepared or microwaveable meals or restaurant delivery, village grocery delivery is a great very friendly and professional service servicing the villages. tele # 352-751-0310. I use dave weekly as it is difficult for me to do my own shopping. the exact name eludes me at the moment but there is also a diner just outside the villages that prepares and delivers meals fairly economically. (dinner done easy, I think) when I moved here 15 years ago even getting a pizza delivered was tricky but now especially with dave at village grocery delivery I eat healthy without leaving my house . and with limited prep on my part

Do they have Meals on Wheels in The Villages? They have it here in Michigan through the Department on Aging. The local churches takes turn delivering the meals. They deliver one meal a day and three on Fridays so they have meals for the weekend. This service worked great last winter for my late father's cousin who was homebound for a few months.

This is one of the most impressive things I've seen in my life. Operation Homebound is amazing and is operated by volunteers from throughout the area and is headquartered at North Lake Presbyterian Church. I helped an elderly woman get signed up for the program about a year ago. She was financially well-to-do by most standards but was not able to stand for a very long period of time-which was one of the criteria for the program. She lived alone. She called and applied over the phone and was receiving meals within a week. She used the program for a couple of months before she passed. It was a Godsend to her and her family.

When they delivered her meals on Friday, they gave her enough to get her through the weekend. I strongly support this program and would recommend it to anyone who needs assistance preparing their meals. Best wishes to you and your parents. You've been blessed to have them for a long time and I hope it is for much, much longer. Happy New Year.

Schwan's delivers here, if your parents are able to do some minimal cooking or microwaving.

Pantry staples and many shelf-stable meals can be ordered in bulk from Amazon, Wal-Mart, etc.
