I just moved to the Villages and was looking for Chelation and came across this commentary. Dr Coy opened Sunlife Medical in Fruitland Park 352-431-3040 2468 US Hgwy 441/27 Suite 202 . This sounds like the doctor I have been looking for!!!!
I am not a resident of the villages. I am a resident of Port Charlotte Fla, over the bridge from Punta Gorda, where I met Dr Coy. I was doing a web search to actually look Dr Coy up as it's been a while since he moved and I found this thread which made the hair go up on my neck which motivated me to sign up so that I could post my own experience with Dr Coy. I urge you all to do some research on this man before concluding "he's not the doctor for me". The Dr Coy who moved to the villages from Punta Gorda saved my life. I was near death when I was diagnosed in march 2005 with a 100% totally blocked left anterial decending artery, aka the widow maker. I was then the recipient of a failed open heart ( the old fashioned cut your sternum and open you up type heart surgery) at charlotte regional medical center. Additionally I was also a vascular mess. 70+% blockage in my right carotid, 90+% blockage in my left common illiac. I could not walk to our mailbox and back without having to stop at least once because of the shooting pains. There's a whole history if you'd like to read about it that you can find online at a yahoo group that I started as a kind of online health diary because the changes I was going thru in the beginning were scary, but they all turned to hope because of my Wife's insistence on taking a path different then what the surgeons had in mind and see Dr Coy. My life, my Wife's life, our existence on the planet has gotten night and day different in terms of my health and all the spin off good things we get from better health and Dr Coy played a major part in this. Here's that online diary which you can go to the beginning and see how this middle aged man went from not being able to walk to the dang mailbox and back, to walking mile after mile in NYC and loving every inch, actually considering signing up to the NYC marathon next year though. Here is that diary which ultimately accepted people to read, share if they so desired. I never wanted it to be anything more than informative: Yahoo! Groups I can tell you that several MD's and DO's and chripractors are members. Nobody really did much posting but if you go to the very beginning you'll find what I wrote and it's a considerable amount of my experience with coming back from all this heart/vascular. How I wish Dr Coy was still here or at least near enough to see. Yahoo! Groups Now I will admit that I went to Dr Coy as someone who had little options other than "taking a shot" with several more surgeries, the abundance of phramaceuticals some of these cardioligists stock us up on with beta blockers, lipitor etc etc. I take NONE of those things. The only "drug" I take is a pain med for a debilitating cervical spine and even that's a story for another day about how to find a more holistic approach to that type of chronic pain, armor thyroid ( sp? ) and vitamins along with a lot of fresh vegetables, fruits, freshly juiced juices, pomergranate juice and I have not had a need to see a cardiologist in years. I feel great and still maintain my chelation every month-6 weeks with an MD/DO in Sarasota. I will also admit that when I saw Dr Coy I was willing to try anything. I didn't want to die. So I was open to doing what I was told to do with my health and perhaps Dr Coy was able to make available more things in private practice than he can do there in the villages. I don't know. What I do know is if I didn't meet Dr Coy when I did I most likely woudn't be typing out this post on a message board in the villages. Dr Coy knows more about how to help you PREVENT bad things from happening then a room full of md's. Try to find some of the talks he's given on better health. Please give my regards if you see him.
