Please read if you are taking meds containing acetaminophen or just plain acetaminophen....just be aware....

I suspect another of the 3 page warnings one gets with every prescription they purchase.

What they fail to provide is the incident rate....is it one out of a hundred or one in a bazillion if taken in the rain on the south side of the street at 1:32AM under a incandesent light source.

True, the numbers aren't given, however, it is something to be aware of if you are taking the drug.

No medicine is side effect free...some are just luckier than others when it comes to not experiencing them.

FDA Drug Safety Communication: FDA warns of rare but serious skin reactions with the pain reliever/fever reducer acetaminophen

Here are the details. The link is given in the article which Pooh listed. Click on the tabs on the FDA website for further details. It is rare but the actual incidence is unclear. Part of the problem with SJS is that fever is an early symptom. Thus if a patient took acetaminophen for fever then developed SJS it is difficult to ascertain whether the medication caused the complication or whether the disease process was already underway before the medication was taken.
