Default Village Landscaping Beware

Hired this company and on Nov -8 -13 paid them some 15 grand for a patio, water feature and landscaping. On the way out that day he hands you a Customer Acknowledgement of two pages which advises you of tree care, plant and shub care and watering info but includes this statement:

100% Complete Customer Satisfaction: I have completed an inspection of the work performed by Village Landscaping,(VL, LLC) and I agree that I am 100% satisfied with the work performed. There are no deficiencies of any kind.

They make you sign for such. I trusted these guys even since they promised me they would be back shortly to add lights to my water feature and clear coat my outdoor patio since I needed a gutter installed which was done on 12/2. I waited 2 weeks for his gutter contact who never called. They also said they would be back to reset my sprinklers after 30 days-no big deal and trim some dead palms branches and never showed. Repeated attempts thru Dec. and still no contact back from them. Push came to shove and I with held money from my Visa CC.

His response back to the CC company was at the time we were 100% satisfied and referred back to the signed Customer Acknowlegement. He also claimed bad weather during December and January with more rain/cold then usual didn't allow him to return to finish a 1 hour job to clear coat a 9x12 patio. Says it as was explained to me but can't remember when that was.

So I sit here with a 5 grand water feature and most likely the only one without lights in the whole Villages. How can one be 100% sure of a job some one does when they sign such the day of completion. There is no need to sign for such as they consider it law binding. And as happened to me as they thru it back into my face. I think there's better choices for such even if you have to wait longer. And don't sign anything, you will be better off.

Bob,
Why did you sign the document without having the job fully completed? And had you paid him before the work was completed? You are the boss and you had the most important weapon in your arsenal. i.e. The power of the penny. As a consumer you should never have signed anything like that unless and until you were fully satisfied. It appears you were taken advantage of but you do have to look out for yourself. No one else is going to. Thanks for putting out the word on this contractor. I hope no none else will repeat this mistake.

You state you signed off with 100% satisfaction on "work performed". Arguably, that has nothing to do with what wasn't done.

Your contract would specify all that was to be done and you allege they haven't complied with the terms of the contract, based upon what you are telling us.

So perhaps your best argument is to rely on the contract and indicate you are satisfied with the limited "work performed" but they still have work yet to be performed according to the contract.

If you signed something stating all work contracted for was performed to my satisfaction then it's a different story.

You're referring to Village Landscaping…... NOT Village PALMS landscaping, correct?
They are two different companies.

I've been here four years and never posted a comment. Now I wish to share an experience with a landscaper and don't know how to start a new post.

So...We called Mansfield Landscaping because of the ads and their website. The ad said "Free In-Home Estimates avail 7 days a week at your convenience, call us anytime at...". My wife called today. Steve said he didn't want to have someone come out and give us an estimate unless either, "we were certain that we wanted to use Mansfield, or at least they were the last one to come out and give us an estimate, since that didn't benefit anyone" Yes, Didn't Benefit Anyone! My wife put him on speaker and we listened to Steve until the 9 minute mark. I interrupted him and explained we didn't like the Sales Pitch and even though it appears their work is great, it appears he doesn't read him own ads, and that we wouldn't be using them and I said 'bye' and hung up. No damage to us, but wow, what call.

My neighbor had Villages Landscaping do his yard and had a similar experience to the OP's experience in that it took forever for them to come and do the job. The end job is OK but I think it could have been a lot better.

I had Village Palms do mine. I am totally happy with what they did and they did it when they said they were going to. I definitely recommend Village Palms.

I think there is probably a price difference between the two but as the saying goes and is usually true, "you get what you pay for".

Village Landscaping, LLC is not listed at all by the BBB. A check with the Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations shows it is owned by Donald Mark Olson with a listed address on Berg Court in The Villages.

Village Palms Landscaping, Inc. is listed by the BBB and not currently rated by the BBB but has no complaints on file with the BBB. The Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations shows that company is owned by William and Wnndy Chenvert with a business address on CR 466 in The Villages.

I live in Miami for the past 51 years & have still to find the same level of scams as we have found in The Villages in the past 10 years. Buyer beware there is my motto now.

We just had Village Landscape complete our landscape. They were very thorough, told us when we could expect them and how long it would take. They let me help pick out my flowering plants. They showed up on the date we were told. Took exactly the amount of days they said it would. Worked long hours and it looks beautiful. We are totally satisfied. They were recommended by someone on our street when we admired their landscape. Out of all the contractors we hired here, they were the ones we would recommend first.
