Default Spectracid Weed Stop For Lawn

I purchased this weed stop from Lowe"s. I applied it to my grass as directed. It will kill your grass be aware of this week stop.
I purchase the same weed stop last year and it worked fine. I think something was changed in this weed stop. The factory said no changes have been made. I have Zoysia grass.

This is the hottest time of the year. Many herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides often come with labels that you should not apply when the temperature is over 85 degrees. If you apply a selective herbicide in the summer here in Florida you have to be very careful, either apply in the early morning or early evening. If you apply during the heat of the day there is a good chance it will kill your grass too. This may be why that happened to you. Just my best guess.

My opinion is null and void until my grass grows back! Possibly the summer of 2023

On killing weeds, I have found an inexpensive and safe weed killer.

But DO NOT use this on grass, this will kill any vegetation you get it on, including plants and trees. But, ironically, it is safe for our water supply. I use it on the rocks in my hardscape.

Mix Vinegar and Salt, spray on weeds. You can use regular vinegar (5% acid) or I use an industrial vinegar I get from Amazon (40% acid) Both kill weeds. The heavy duty kills them in a hour or so. BUT, be really careful with the industrial stuff, it is very acidic and will burn you. I recommend more patience than I have and using the store brand Vinegar.

Vinegar and salt works for killing weeds, also kills poison Ivy.

I applied Spectracide Weed Stop for lawns also and it burned my Zoysia grass considerably. I don't think it killed the grass, as the spots were green within two weeks. This product was applied approximately two months ago and according to the instructions.

Yes, it IS an effective weed killer. However, this post was commenting on a product that was supposed to be safe for lawns, which "vinegar and salt" are not.

Default Added info for Spectracide

Have used Spectracide a number of times.
Need to follow directions for mixing.
One thing I found was that there seem to be some weed leaves the Spectracide only
seems to not adhere to. My solution is to put a capfull of dish detergent (i.e. Dawn) into
the solution. That seems to make the Spectracide adhere to the weed leaves.
Works for me.

I ve used it on my Zoysia grass here for 5 years without a whisper of issues. Always good to read the application instructions on the label.

I use Spectricide also, but the grass and weed killer....says it right on the label. Works great on both weeds and grass. Maybe, read your label. You might have picked up the wrong product. I also have zoysia grass

Default Weed stop

I'm retired. I use Massey they do an excellent job and if they mess up they fix it, if I see a problem I call them and they are out the next day.

You have to read carefully, weed killer that won't kill St Augustine will kill Bermuda and probably Zoysia grass too.

I used the Spectracide pre-mix labeled for use on StAugustine grass. It worked well enough, except for some woody weed that spreads over the top of the grass. Fortunately that is not difficult to pull up, roots and all. There is a variety of clover that seems quite persistent this year too. As to the stuff that grows in the crevices between concrete slabs, nothing works for long. Those weeds thrive on Roundup.
