May be interested in replacing sod in front of my patio villa. Open to suggestions for contractors that do good work and our fair with regard to price. Got one quote that seems high for such a small area ?

Install should be around 5 bucks a square foot, removal and prep should be about 1 to 2 bucks per square.

Typically there was no soil improvement. They simply laid sod cut from a sod farm on top of existing soil. In most of the villages."soil," means sandy clay with a PH of between 7 and 8. Have a soil test done. You will likely benefit from adding organic matter. Far more than you may expect. Also, you need to know what type of grass you now have. It has been hot and dry the past month (5/28/2019). If, you have St Augustine and it has gone brown it is DEAD. The Empire Zoysia will go dormant due to lack of water and it will come back. |

Forget the sod and put rocks on your villa front yard. No mowing, watering, fertilizing etc. Looks great.

Call ARC before you do the conversion to stone/rocks, as it may not be allowed.

So, you advise that they should proceed. Even though they may eventually be forced to bring the property back into compliance.

Didn't Florida pass a law that says you plant a garden in your front lawn? If so, doesn't state law supersede local rules?
