Moved in not too long ago to house that is just over 6 years old. Would like to revamp some of the bushes in the front yard and wondered about suggestions on companies to help develop a plan. I understand that the changes would ultimately have to be approved before doing the work but wanted to get someone to help put together a plan on what to plant and a bid to see what the cost would be. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You can spend anywhere from $3K to change out the straw to stone (with some plant mods) or $20K for a palm tree, stone and small stone walls that everyone does. I would suggest you first have a budget then ride around your neighborhood looking for what you like and ask who did there’s. Most likely they have a yard sign out front if the work is currently going on. My 2 cents.

IMHO, many of the "landscapers" do not actually know which plants are good for this area, they know which ones will make them money. We made some mistakes with our landscaping, so I suggest that you contact Master Gardener, they have meetings ate Pinellas Plaza and get info from them. As I recall they have a book with suitable plants for this area.
After your meeting, you can have discussions with the landscaper, and double check any suggestions with the book or master gardener.
NOTE: the big box stores have been known to have plants not suitable for this area or are actually invasive and very hard to control (aka bamboo for example). I have delt with Tree Frog and the owner is an arborist and will be able to give you advice.

Great advice because most people feel if it's sold locally it will do fine.

Being from Wisconsin, my wife seen a rhubarb plant at Lowes.
She planted it only to see it die after the hot summer sun killed it.

Now try growing that in Florida
