I am looking for contractor recommendations for installing a putting green in backyard.

Knew two people that did that a couple years ago, the novelty has worn off so it rearely gets used. Biggest drawback is after some time you know all the breaks and idocyncracies of the green so it becomes less challenging.

Neighbour had Pooter’s, said he regretted having them do it, nothing but trouble. He never uses it anymore

We have one in our backyard. Too small, and it is level so it really doesn't mimic greens very well, however, it is a great conversation piece.

I am interested in this, as well. But, I'd like to try to do it myself? It would be more of a novelty, than a real green that I practice with. And also, I'm looking to remove the small(6ft) strip of grass behind my house, which doesn't grow(between house and border wall). Has anyone tried to do this themselves, and/or have a source to procure the greens/material?

If there are any trees around, especially live oak, be aware you will need a leaf blower daily.

We had one installed in 2009 by Synthetic Turf of Central Florida, located in Summerfield. We just had it removed last year. As someone said if you have an oak tree not only the leaves are a pain so are those little squiggly things that fall. After about three years I had to have them come back because I was getting lumps all over the place. Turn out mushrooms decided it was a nice dark place to grow in. They had to tear the whole thing out and start over. Didn't use it for the past three years, had it removed a nice patio put in it's place. Price 2009 was $4200.00.

The home we purchased had a 6 hole putting green in the back yard. My husband is a good golfer and thought it was worthless. After a year it was removed and we put in a pool. That gets a lot of use. I know Pooters installed the green.

Cut the areas grass close.
Dig a hole the same size as the golf course would.
Done.
I knew that 3 minute Youtube video on instructional architectural design would come in handy some day.

If you're talking about artificial turf you're probably fine. But real grass putting require an enormous amount of maintenance, equipment and expertise. Unless you have a degree in agronomy or turf grass maintenance I would advise against it.
