Home Depot has it for $3.69 a bale. Lowes has it for a little more. That is if you are doing it yourself. You can google nurseries near The Villages and call for prices. IF you are not doing it yourself, I would call 3 to 5 landscapers in The Villages for an estimate. And I would check this website for recommendations before selecting a landscaper.
In a previous thread, a villager paid $2,000 for mulch and having it spread. Be cautious! !!! For an average home I would think $100-$200 for the pine straw and another $100-$200 max for labor would be a fair price.

We had Adam Neusbaum (352-342-1384) and family spread 27 bales around our lot for $7 per bale. He will deliver for $5 per bale.

Adam is great. If pine straw is good enough for the Villages, we knew it
would be perfect for us.

Adam is the guy to call! When you figure your time going to HD or Lowes several times just to get the pine straw to your house (average is 22-25 bails) so you are looking at 4 or 5 trips. Just have Adman deliver or install it for you!

I've used Adam for several years and couldn't be more satisfied. His number is 352-342-1384. He also does lawn aeration for a very reasonable price.

I have stated on other threads, I am not a fan of pine straw. But, if that is a person's choice I am happy that they get a fair price for the product and installation.

When it was time for us to get our pine straw "refreshed", I figured getting rocks put down once was better than replacing the straw every few years. Just my $0.02.

Default Pine bark may look okay...

Keep in mind, it needs to be redone 2-3 times more often than compared to pine bark. If your doing it yourself it's a great deal. If your paying to have it done it becomes just as expensive as pine bark if not more in the long run due to the repeated material and labor cost.
but in the long run it tends to get blown all over the place when it's windy. A poor choice in my opinion.

You need-full mulch or just touch up.

Also, it is a natural product so it varies from lot to lot. I've not had it happen but I've read of people finding active insects in it. It often has pine cones and sticks mixed in. If, you are doing it yourself, I would buy one bale from several stores to see the quality-before you buy a large quantity.

Both Lowes and Home depo will give you less 5% if you out it on their credit card. Lowes gives quantity prices on fertilizer bought in quantity. You should ask-they may do the same on pine straw.

Had him do some top dressing in shrub areas with a sand/cow poop mixture (doesn't smell at all)
Then he put pine straw on top. He does a nice job and the price is right.

PINE-STRAW-DELIVERY

Hangs the string from each bale of pine straw that he uses on the truck mirror, then counts the strings when done. Only uses what you need.
