Default Palm tree seed pods

Can anyone tell me if I will damage my palm tree if I cut out the seed pod that is coming up the middle of the tree? It produces nice orange seed pods but they are a pain to clean up after they fall to the ground. It's only about five feet tall so it would be really easy to do.

I have been cutting mine for about 10 years with no damage to the trees. Now the trees are just out of my reach, so I have to hire someone to climb up and cut the pods.

Those pods if allowed to blossom will draw all kind of insects and create a real mess on the ground. I use to cut them out myself but as the trees grew my ladder shrank and so I hire a guy to keep them trimmed

Those pods have always reminded me of the movie "The Body Snatchers". Scared the heck out of me when I was a kid, and still intimidates me today.

I cut the ones out of our trees. I've been told if allowed to bloom they attract hornets among other insects and critters.

remove them; they serve no purpose except to reproduce (i.e. seeds). think of this as birth control.

removing the pods enhances growth as the tree does not have to generate the pod, then the seeds, then etc.......all the nutrients stay with the tree.

They are a mess to let go.

Yes -- cut them off.

My dog used to eat them and . . . ugh! What a mess. You don't want to know the rest of that story!
