Crepe myrtle tree with bouquet of purple flowers branching out would be optimal.

Your best bet, go to a nursery (Fairfield Farms,KB Landscaping or Village Palms) give them the dimensions of your pot and perhaps they can show you/recommend on what works for you and your space.

You have options but not everything cold hardy. I’ve got a White Bird of Paradise and some Majestic Palms in pots. But come cold weather, I need to move them. Not an easy task as pots are very heavy and somewhat fragile. Trade off’s with everything.

I grow potatoes in large pots.
4 spuds a pot, heap up with compost as they grow, water, average 20+lb. a pot.
Never buy a potato again.
Can't eat trees!

How big a pot is of course the question. Plants there are annuals and perenials. Simply stated annuals last for one year. As they have only one year they tend to bloom prolifically to produce seeds. Common and easy to grow are marigolds.

Perennials come back every year. In pots, I am growing daylillys. The variety el Dario blooms in yellow and blooms almost continuously most daylilies have only a short bloom cycle.

A pot. The plant cannot develop an extensive root system. Drainage can also be a problem. Be sure to drill or have drainage holes

Penta will grow year around as long as we don't have an extremely cold winter. You will have to eventually replace it in a couple of years because they do get woody. Knockout roses also grow well for multiple years.

What is pot made of? Are there holes in the bottom and how many?

How BIG is BIG?? Put a garbage bag in it, either count measured amounts to fill, or put on a scale and fill. Total weight minus weight of pot, then divide by 8.33 = gallons.

Will you be watering this never? Once a week, once a day or multiple times a day?
Pot on concrete, on stones or on mulch?

Crepe myrtle is a bad choice for many reasons.

Without answering these questions, no one can give you an actual good answer.
