I have several dead or dying patches in my Zoysia lawn. I've noticed areas of 1/2 inch diameter holes in various areas with little mounds of dirt.
I've lifted up several patches of sod and it appears whatever it is is eating the root system. What insect is causing this and what is the best treatment?

mole crickets? Not sure, but my neighbor had them, think they feed on grubs - several spray thinks available at Home Depot/Lowe's, etc. say they work. I found 1 grub when I was digging around our CYV backyard, think I used Spectracide for insects (check the label), the type you connect to a hose.

We were at the Twice on Tuesday because we had same thing in our lawn and they said if is probably mole crickets. The extension service in the area is very good for any questions like that.

The best natural and definitive treatment for grub control is a product called Milky Spore powder. It's easy to apply. I used it several years ago and my grub problem is virtually gone. I bought it at a local nursery, but you can order it on Amazon. I recommend also buying the applicator, which looks like a much bigger and longer paper towel cardboard cylinder. The applicator might seem unnecessary, but I tried applying the powder with and without the applicator and with is far easier.
