Default Cost of Lawn Mowing

What is a reasonable amount to pay per month for mowing grass for designer home?

The cost may depend on the size of your lot and if you have complex landscaping.

Corner lot, 2000sf house, $150 a month is the last quote. And they wanted up front for a year. Not going to happen. Take us 55 minutes with an ego, have paid for the mower twice over, so far

Designer home on corner lot with “extra” grass and my mower guy charges me $40 a month and I give him $50. He does a great job and I’m sure glad to have him.

When we had renters, I paid Massy. Got calls and pics from the neighbors about overgrown grass and beds full of weeds.

When we took the place back, I fired them and bought a Craftsman package from Lowes ($550) of a battery powered mower, weed wacker, shrub trimmer, and blower. For just the mowing/weed whacking/blowing, start to finish, takes about 45 minutes. I rarely do it all at once, unless the temps are mild. During the winter you can go two weeks plus and not need to mow. When it gets hot and stops raining, same thing.

I use Roundup once a week in the beds (rocks) to knock back the weeds and the grass runners that pop up. I trim the bushes back maybe once every three to four weeks.

I estimated that I have saved in the thousands. And the exercise is beneficial as well.

Last week 98 degrees 54 minutes.. battery is only an hour before it need’s charge. So get it done before battery dies. Yep it was hot and 100% humidity, but great exercise, and only an hour out of my life. Not much difference than going to Hot Yoga

We pay our guy $330 every six months, which works out to $55 per month. Have been using him for 8 years and very happy, he raised our rate $5 per month last year which was the first time he increased his price. He sprays our garden weeds once per month as well. He is turning 60 later this year and we are crossing our fingers he won’t retire soon. He stopped taking new customers a couple years ago.
