Does anyone know anything about Liberty Dental Care Plan? My wife's former employer is changing their retiree's health plan for 2022. The plan has some coverage with Liberty. I've tried to find a dentist who accepts Liberty in this area but have been unsuccessful even though some dentists are listed on the Liberty web site. Anything anyone can tell me about Liberty Dental Care Plan would be appreciated.

Dental plans are a waste of money. Ask your dentist and they will tell you.

Our dentist does not accept any insurance, but gives you the paperwork to send in for a claim which is then sent directly to you. When I had coverage this worked out quite well, but a noted above any coverage you need to pay for is not worth the money. The last time I looked a dental policies, there was a 1 to 2 year waiting period for major work, and even minor work appeared to be delayed. It looked like they were making sure they had a majority of your money in their hands before making approval for the work. I self insure.

We tried to make use of our Humana Gold plan dental coverage and had problems finding dentist who was recommended to us who would accept the insurance.

As a result we also self insure with very high dental bills

Delta dental is 100 a month.. and they max/pay out at an annual rate of 1200 - so I never signed up. Whats the point?

Dental plans.com. Not insurance but gets you insurance prices for around 100 a year. Pays for itself quickly. No waiting period to use

I pay $63.93 a month for Delta Dental Premier, with $1500 yearly benefits. While that isn't all that great, I feel I come out ahead because I get the lower insurance rate that is negotiated by the insurance co. My wife's root canal was $1500+ because her dentist dropped UHC Dental, while mine was $750+ (same endodontist). The dentist's have no problem charging the max if you aren't insured

I know this is true and it doesn't seem right, does it? The value of the service or product should be the same whether an insurance company pays or an individual pays.

Same with medical bills. If a hospital bills you $30,000 for services and then accepts $9,000 from Medicare, what really is the value of that service? And what happened to the missing $21,000?

Don’t know about Liberty, but 1st Dental is worth exploring.

LOL. My last Quest lab bill was for $580, but the insurance only allowed them to receive $45. What happened to the missing $535? It never existed. That is the way it has been done for as long as I can remember. It's why patients should be required to pay part of every medical procedure, so they have skin in the game. Competition would reveal the true value of medical care.

Delta Dental is a company. They have a wide assortment of plans, from HMOs and PPOs to discount cards.

I have one of the Delta Dental PPO plans, I pay $18/month. It pays out up to $5,000 per year but also requires the participating dentist to charge no more than certain prices for certain procedures, and covers twice-yearly cleanings, annual bitewings, and a full set of X-rays every 2 years, with a full panoramic set once every 4 years.

Never heard of that dental insurance. Look into Delta Dental insurance. It's the one most dentists accept.

I've had Delta Dental insurance through the VA for over 7 years now. They have been great to work with and my dentist has had no problems with them. They have a preapproved structure plan that the dentist has accepted. So right away you know what your cost will be. I also get $1,500 a year in benefits. So this like getting four crowns a year at half price. Love it!

My Delta Dental is $36 a month with $1,500 yearly benefit. Plus preapproved cost structure.
