Just to balance the discussion a bit, I have personally seen ambassadors unloading a couple of dozen used balls at the practice nets at Cane Garden.

I use those nets at CG frequently and I've seen golfers (probably some of the same sanctimonious golfers that are incessantly crying and whining about the "ball hawking" Ambassadors) stop by those nets and attempt to slip those balls into their bags. I say attempt because I'll call them out and let them know that those balls are put there for golfers to use at the nets and not to replenish their supply.

Most ambassadors collect these for the schools Jr. Program. Take time to ask, they are there to assist us.
