Default Driving range behind 466 Walmart - Called The Sand Trap

The driving range located behind the 466 Walmart opened today (8/15). Brand new Titlist range balls. Prices range from $6 a bucket - medium size~65 balls, $8 large and $12 for an extra large bucket. They are waiting to receive small buckets. Conditions are excellent, hitting off soft grass . They will move tee boxes daily and move flags accordingly. They are working on the bunker and will be adding a chipping area. So far so good...the grand opening will be in October. It is golf cart accessible .

I thought there was one already behind WalMart. Is this different?

It is my understanding that the driving range behind Walmart on 466 is not golf cart accessible. I don't believe carts are allowed to cross the street behind Walmart. Does anyone know differently?

This is the same location as the previous...just new owners. I saw golf carts all the time at the previous driving range...plus golf carts on the road that goes behind Walmart all the way down to and into The Villages.

Use the tunnel to Walmart (enter near Golden Coral), drive through the Walmart parking lot by the automotive side and cross the street to the range.

to enter driving range you MUST cut thru wal mart parking lot to where the auto service dept. is and then sheriffs will allow you to cross straight over to driving range unless you have an LSV.

Do they have a teaching professional there?

Some years ago, I took the "New to Golf" lessons from Maria at Palmers. I met some nice people, and I have a better understanding of the overall game and etiquette. And I got a tag for my golf bag.

Now I need a quick lesson from time to time and Sand Trap is very conveniently located for me. Do you know what the quality of lessons would be like at Sand Trap, compared to a lesson at a more "professional" venue? Is there a Teaching Pro that you can recommend at Sand Trap?

The Oxford Golf Center is also close by on 301- it is a fantastic facility with fabulous instructors! Sandra has one hour short game clinics on Saturdays for $35 and she has great prices on lesson packages, too. 352-751-5122

Clarissa has been at Sand Trap since the opening and she is a great instructor.

Nice place but they need to move the instruction area as when you are trying to concentrate on your own game all you here is the pro talking and laughing with his clients. Very distracting.
