Recently I've played at the Nancy Lopez and Glenview Championship courses and at both there were players in the course wearing t shirts. I wonder if enforcement of the rules has declined or whether the rules have been changed without notice.

For a start the Executive courses are NOT beginners courses and it might be a good idea for you both to take a group of lessons as you need to keep up the pace

According to one golf ambassador the nice cotton, collared, button down shirt I was wearing was not acceptable. When I asked him why, he said it was because the small label on the shirt pocket said Carhartt. I asked him if the shirt would be acceptable if the label said Izod or Tommy Hilfiger, and he said yes. I explained to him that the golfing dress code is silent regarding the manufacturer of the clothing and asked him to go get the club pro so we could discuss his problem with my shirt. That was the end of his insistence my shirt was not acceptable. All I can figure is that the ambassador is a total a$$hole, or he had shorted the stock of Carhartt?

That's beyond ridiculous and you handled it better, than I probably would have. It also just goes to show that some people should never be given a position, with ANY amount of authority. On the jeans/denim thing being acceptable, I was shocked when I first read it.

A woman must not wear a tank top unless the shoulder straps are at least 3 inches wide. A sleeveless top is fine for women and so are shorts or golf skirts. On a par 3 pick up your ball after 6 strokes and on par 4 pick up after 8 strokes. Don't tarry and play ready golf. There will most likely be people behind you ready to play. The executive courses are not beginner courses. They can be very challenging and in my opinion more so than the championship courses because they are not as wide and forgiving and have hazards everywhere! lol As far as keeping score, that's up to you but like others have said just count your strokes. If you keep score though, you can see if you're improving in your play and you will if you play a lot. The most important thing is to just have fun and enjoy being outdoors!!

You pick up after THREE over par, NOT DOUBLE PAR...
Par 3 pick up after 6.
Par 4 pick up after 7 NOT 8.
Par 5 pick up after 8 NOT 10.
