Default Caution when purchasing Leather Recliners from The Leather Factory

I purchased a new Leather recliner which took 3 months to get. I paid $2900 for my Leather chair, I noticed after almost two weeks that the leather in the seat section of the recliner, has an impression in the leather, it looked crinkled and bunched up. I have had the chair for two and one half weeks. I took pictures of the seat and contacted customer service. I have purchased sofas and recliners from them in the past with no complaints. Customer service said "they all get that way once you sit is them for a while". I explained that after two weeks I would expect my leather furniture would not look like it was buckling, or caving in. They said, "well you should come over to the store and I would see that all the chairs have that impression in the seat of them". That may be true, because hundreds of people sit on the display chairs in the showroom. I am one person and have had the chair for less than 3 weeks. They will not do anything to try and make this right, to reupholster at least the seat of the recliner, just simply state the all leather chairs will do that. I for one will never shop at Leather Factory again. They have lost my confidence and my business. I guess that is all we can expect for customer service these days. Just wanted to put the word out, so that others do not experience the same "poor quality and poor customer service, that I did.

Maybe a report to better business bureau would help them rethink their position.

I have an 18 year old Lazy Boy - no such buckling.

Leather is not what it used to be. Most people are not willing to pay the cost for high quality leather furniture, so the stores sell cheap junk. Good stores that try to satisfy customer complaints (like Babettes) end up losing money when someone complains. It's hard to blame The Leather Factory because the only thing they can do is to refund your money and take a loss. But, I agree that they should have warned you.

I would doubt there are hundreds of people sitting in the show room ones and I would think they are getting no more wear and tear than a chair at your home, IMO. I would at least go to the store and see the model of chair you have as an example and leather model chairs like it in their store. I assume you looked at the same chairs in the store before purchasing yours (you did not say)? If all the other chairs are the same then not much they can do. Just my 2 cents and not my second post.

When will people learn that only the old forum fogies qualify to comment on subjects. Only 2 posts, what was Sharon thinking?

(Thanks for the heads up Sharon, some of us appreciate the disappointing shopping result you shared with us.)

If I had paid that money, and was that upset with the quality of an item, and had no satisfaction from customer services, I would take it back, and demand a refund.
No way would I accept that.

I agree. That is the only solution "IF" the OP can convince the store to take it back. The fact that the chair took 3 months to get means that it was made in Mexico, Canada, China, or some other country. The store cannot return the chair and, most likely, they cannot repair it. Calling the store a "factory" is a joke. They just order furniture from foreign countries and hope the customer is satisfied.

Been on ToTV over 10 years and this is your first (unfortunate) post.

Well, I don’t think we can damn the store just yet as she never indicated she actually went to the store to purchase the recliner (where it was viewed along with the other said damaged ones) or to look at others to see if they were similar to her’s after her purchase? Maybe she can respond back on her third post?
