Default Yankee Clipper

While many cancelled their tee times yesterday (Wednesday) because of the cold and wind, we decided to dive it a go with a 10:56 tee time. They sent us out early cause hardly anyone was there.

Although I wrote up a review of this course about a month ago (not good rating) , I couldn’t believe how much of an improvement had taken place in just a few weeks .

The “weeds all over the place” were almost totally gone and the greens and fairways and tee boxes were actually in very shape !

It’s nice to see a transition at the greens with rough/collar/green

I took a few pictures to try to show the current conditions.

I would say , a solid B rating .

One of our favorite courses.
It was some years ago, always in good condition, compared to many other courses.
I don't know why, but I ruined a few good rounds by duffing up hole 9.

I started on 1 with a par and ended up with a par on #9

Just shy of the green on the tee shot followed up with a great chip with a back pin ….

The maintenance crew is doing a good job there and other courses by getting rid of the “hard pan” around the greens making a decent chip even possible !

I walked Okeechobee yesterday. Walking gave me an up close view of the fairways which were winter excellent. The greens are fantastic and super fast. Tee boxes are excellant. It’s the longest walk of the 11 executive courses I rotate through at 2.5 miles according to my Apple Watch. Great exercise. Although I had to hustle as the three that made up the foursome drove and mostly hit the greens from the tees.

I love to walk these courses. Sometimes I will slow the group on those long reaches. I will wait frequently for riders having to walk to their short shots. No problem as we are lucky to be here!
