Does the Villages do any over seeding at all any more? Many courses don't seem to be up to standards. And using spray paint as an alternative is kind of chincy.

I spoke with a course worker. He stated the courses are in better shape without over seeding. I must agree because in the past junks would be all over the greens. They use water coloring, not paint. Considering all the pounding these courses get they are in pretty good shape.

The coloring you see isn't to hide anything, it's to show where a spray chemical has been applied to avoid missed spots or over-application.

I've noticed the dark green color of greens an several championship courses, but the green conditions right now are the best I've ever seen in The Villages (6 years). In fact the greens are way too fast for my game, and I"m finding myself three-putting way too much, but I love the smooth texture and few bumps. Hopefully they will stay this way and I'll learn how to putt them.

Several of the executive courses I've noticed since last playing them appears to have a different grass now. I noticed as well the greenish tint on my putter and ball. I usually clean off my clubs and shoes afterwards any way because I don't know for sure what it is.

colored fertilizer so the guy knows were he has been a lot grass to cover.

Played Lopez today and the greens were like putting on a table top. Way to fast for my game. But they were smooth.

Another positive vote to the new regime of winter golf course maintenance. Not only is it better in the winter, it's better in the fall when the overseeding used to be done, and it's way better in the spring when the year round grass had to fight to overtake the winter overseed grass planted.

Thanks for the answers folks. I guess my main concern is the fairways and grass around the greens. Not much turf. More like hardpack. Makes chipping tougher. Too easy to blade the shot. Truth be told I am fairly new to the game so appreciate the feedback.

I have lived and played golf here for 14 years now and the present championship course conditions are the worst I have seen. I would think TV would at least make sure the greens are in nice shape but I find most greens are very inconsistent with being bumpy and bare spots. It really takes the enjoyment out of the game.
One comparison is a course just outside TV. Eagle Ridge gets heavy play by members and Villagers and others in area. They over seed and this course is in beautiful shape. Their greens are smooth and even texture and consistent hole to hole. Tee boxes have grass on them and fairways a pleasure to hit off because they have grass.
The Villages have the money to do it right but it is like they do not really care anymore.

I no longer play the championship courses but I suspect the greens are much better maintained than the executive courses.
Too many executive course greens are a disgrace. The observation is not just a current condition but ongoing for some time now.

And I conclude (right or wrong) the courses North of 466 are much better cared for.....especially the greens. There cannot be that much difference in conditions if the maintenance was equal.
