The original THUGS were from India/Pakistan and were highway bandits and assassins.
In an 1852 article in the New York Times about the original thugs, they wrote that our "rowdies" in NYC are very similar, and so the tradition of calling bad guys THUGS was born. Blue Thugs (known as crips, enemies of Red Thugs, known as Bloods) Italian Thugs (more often called gangsters since they dressed better) Brown Thugs Pathetic wanna be white Thug The use of Thugs to describe criminals of all types was in widespread use by media, elected officials, even by the Thugs themselves until sometime in January 2017 it transformed into a coded racial slur. Nobody knew, the change in what the word means has not been codified, it's just now proclaimed a racial code word for some reason.

I choose to not be phased by or retrained by those who are intent upon changing America's core values that are not convenient to their aganda.

Tupac made it a badge of honor. I don't understand the issue one way or the other. I thought it was an interesting thread with interesting info. I mean, who knew where it came from before?

I plead guilty of using the identifier of "thug" in a number of my notes. To clarify the
Webster Dictionary definition it is: "Bully, gangster, gangbanger, gansta, goon, hood, hoodlum, hooliganse, mobster punk, roughneck, ruffian, [British = Yob or Yobbo] I stand by the definitions for what I meant with "hoodlum, punk," as my prime intent! ![]() |

Here's a photo of some "rowdies" from the 19th century era when the New York Times decided that the word thug could be applied to them. |

So many words that offend people. So touchy, touchy feelings.
