Every Oil Change Shop MUST take your motor oil for re-cycling. It's the law. However, try and get rid of old anti-freeze - now there's a big problem...

This is a great learning opportunity - the lesson being: if you think you're going to have a concern of the result of a project, then find out what to do with the result *before* starting the project. What would have happened with the OP if he had discovered there was a fee for oil drop-off, and that fee was higher than the price of just going to an authorized oil changing facility and paying for them to do it for him? That is a rhetorical question, it doesn't require an answer. It's a point, being made. Like - buying a whole bunch of pesticide and using it in your yard, and THEN reading the ingredients to discover it should never be placed anywhere near where dogs would be taken for walks because it'll burn the pads of their paws. And -not- buying "warning" signs to put up in the yard while you're buying the pesticide.
Many many examples - buying a new refrigerator that requires certain electrical wiring, getting it brought to your house, having the old one taken away - and only then do you discover that your house isn't wired to accommodate the new fridge. You have to check this stuff out first, before undertaking things that you -know- can possibly have unpleasant consequences. |
