Looking for a contractor to clean whole house vents and gas dryer vents.
If you had it done, did it help with the dust? Recommendations appreciated. |

Probably won't help eliminate dust. You will most likely find that with everything closed ans the a/c running , there is a negative pressure in the house. The tiniest crevice will allow dust, pollen, etc. to get sucked in from outside.

Cleaning the dryer vent makes sense because it may prevent a fire. But, cleaning HVAC ducts does not make sense. The ducts are flexible and have lots of nooks and crannies that will trap dust which cannot be removed. The ducts are also easily punctured, which cause a serious problem with your system. I have never had someone clean my HVAC ducts. It is a good idea to clean the ceiling vents, but that is really a DIY project.
I dusted my house once, but it just came back. I'm not falling for that again. |

I'm not sure why everyone is saying that duct cleanings don't do anything. Absolutely they work! The key with duct cleanings is you pay for quality. If a company shows up with a dry vac, then guess what, your ducts aren't cleaned. But if they show up with a negative pressure machine and have agitators with pressurized air in each one of your air ducts. Then you will pull a TON of dust and debris out of your ducts. The thing people forget is, if you have a dust problem, you have to install something that helps out your air quality. Its almost pointless to do a duct cleaning without installing something to change your air quality because your ducts will just end up the way they were again.
