We used Atlas movers. They took our furniture and our SUV on the 18 wheeler.

You did not say if you will be traveling with the car. If, it is of great value or? |

We had one car shipped with the furniture (United Van Lines), this was quite expensive, around $1300 as I recall, the least expensive way we found was the autotrain, vehicle is around $200 to $300, your fare is around the same if you do not need a bed. Only down side is you have to drive to Lorton, VA. If you decide to try this do NOT use 95, go out to Harrisburg, PA, take 15 south and if a remember 270 to 95 for around 10 miles to Lorton. We also brought one car down towed behind a U-Haul truck, and would not do that again, even with three drivers this was a miserable trip.
Hopes this helps.

One word of caution with car transporters, everyone we called, I was talking to a middleman and NOT the party actually transporting the car. There several companies that deal with the end customer directly, but many times these are transporting collectable or very expensive cars. Try a search on this site, as this has been discussed several times in the past.

I here that the Auto Train works. Have someone place it on the train and you pick it up in Florida. I have never used auto train but I've been told it is a easy way to travel with your can. May be a solution.

I met driver behind Publix on Saturday. He took photos as did I, and put my car on hauler with about five others. He was going to Miami and thought he would have the car in Ma. by Wed. It was delivered (Thursday) to a family member in Dartmouth Ma. The price was less than $700. and there was no middle man (broker) involved. Driver kept me in the loop through out with text messages. Is it a valuable car? If yes, ship it in an enclosed trailer. Budget about $1.00 per mile. I used Passport Transport in February of this year to ship my 67 Chevelle from Maine to Florida. I paid $1365 and it was worth every dollar.

I just did a sample, 2 seniors, one way southbound, with a standard size car on Wednesday Nov 15, and it was $528. That was for 2 seats, which is what we've done, but you can get a small sleeper for about $300 more, it's really not a compartment but curtains you pull around your seat which will lay flat. The trains leave out at 4pm everyday, one from Lorton, VA and the other from Sanford, FL. Sanford is about a 75 minute drive east of TV using US 441 and CR 46. Lorton is on I-95 about one exit south of the DC beltway. The trains will pull into the stations about 9:30 the next morning at each end. You'll get dinner and breakfast on the train. The arrival time is sometimes skewd, my last trip down the train hit two people on the tracks in Palatka, FL (an hour before Sanford) and then we didn't arrive until about 1:00, 3-1/2 hours late. https://tickets.amtrak.com/itd/amtrak ![]() |

We sent a car last December from The Villages To Long Island.
It was a enlightening experience . Just remember when you call a listed "Transporter" you are not talking to the actual hauler ! More then not it is someone sitting by the TV in their underwear with a list of haulers in front of them on a computer screen. They list you car on a board and drivers bid for the job . I received many estimates from 400 to 1200 .. We could not make up our minds . One day came across a Agent named "Gods speed" so we took a plunge . The price wound up to be 550 -- The agent takes a fee and then you pay the drive cash ... He used a carrier out of Staten Island named Redline Auto Transport . They delivered the car in 36 hours .. we were happy with the service The Agent number is 954 630 6502 --I do not have the haulers number Good Luck ![]()
