Big full page ad in yesterday's paper for those 'frustrated with Comcast, etc?"
That pretty much describes me. Their most recent increase in 'equipment rental' may just have been the last straw. We have tv (no premium channels), 200mb internet and home phone (which we don't need or want but because we have a package bill is cheaper than if we had only tv and internet ala carte. Our bill just went up to $197/month our highest utility. These "senior cable" people are offering combo of Dish Network for TV and Spectrum for internet for $139/mo. That's pretty darned compelling. Saving nearly $700/month appeals to me. So they say "anything that sounds too good to be true probably is" Do you have experience with this company? I guess they are just an agent for a number of providers. Do you have experience with Dish or Spectrum? Do you lose reception in extreme weather? Is picture as good as Comcast? How is the service itself? We've had Comcast for decades, come close to leaving several times but have never pulled the trigger. I have come to the conclusion that all cable sucks but maybe Comcast sucks less. More expensive but at least you get the service you pay for. I'm sure that many of you have faced this delemma. What did you decide? Are you happy with your decision? John |

It's a third party sales gimmick. I would stay away from it. I would suggest that you read your Xfinity contract online and find out when the 2 year agreement expires, if you have an agreement. If you don't have an agreement, you will save money by getting one. Make an in-person appointment with Xfinity to initiate a new agreement. You don't need to buy TV and internet ala carte. You can get a 2-service bundle without the telephone. Also, you can reduce your internet speed to reduce your bill. Good luck.

Comcast does suck.
I opted for YouTubeTV , approx $75/month and Century Link approx $45 = $120 and we're quite pleased with them both. |

As mentioned already, it's third party. Just connect with Dish directly for TV, you'll probably get some sort discount or free programming for 3 months and then 12 month discount. Spectrum has TV along with the internet, it's similar to Comcast (Xfinity) but is available only below 466A, and they have had their share of complaints as well.
The wave of the future is streaming. You get 85 channels with youtube.tv for $75, also Hula TV and Fubo TV, there is also Sling TV which is owned by Dish. This subject is discussed every month on TOTV if you want use the search feature at the top of the site and you can see a lot of replies quickly. You might have to buy a Roku stick or an Amazon Firestick to get the apps on your smart TV if they're not already there. Those you can buy online or at Best Buy. They also include a lot of free programming. Just switched to dish got more channels and paying 90 bucks less ( which includes internet) Got rid land line ( nice not getting spam/rover calls every hour) and ATT saved another 45 bucks. I liked Comcast but wasn’t gone to pay more for less. Dish rate good for two years. Plus all the electronic smaller. Dish picture better than Comcast. Century links electronic’s smaller and quicker. Win, win for me.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION, I know this is not a immediate solution. You have probably read about Elon Musk / Tesla launching SpaceX space rockets into orbit. Well SpaceX rockets are actually deploying satellites that will be spinning around the earth at a low level. The system when completed will be called Starlink giving everyone around the globe internet and tv service at a extremely low cost. They are saying this Starlink system will put all of the Cable companies out of business. Right now Elon Musk has approx 1000 satellites in orbit. When is the Starlink system going to be completed I don't know.

We have YouTube TV, and CenturyLink as another poster. You can watch on mobile and computer. If your TV has a YouTube TV app you can use that, otherwise you can get a Chromecast device that plugs into the TV and you can "cast" the program from mobile or computer onto the TV (that is what I do). Turns out I watch TV on my laptop and use the TV for mostly watching Netflix or Apple TV (I don't have a YouTube TV app). I saw the comment about Starlink satellites. The first users have to pay for the satellite receiver which I saw was $499. I saw but can't remember the monthly prices. I think this is for internet only, but as mentioned above there are internet based TV services. Certainly something good for rural areas, but I suspect not any better than CenturyLink or other land based ISPs. |

Was planning on staying with them but Xfinity price blew them away. If Comcast raises prices like I expect will get back to Dish which btw has a much better remote. Can program to zap commercials automatically. Did not know they offered internet. |
