Can anyone recommend a company that resurfaces a pool deck that has done the same for them? We have stress cracks after three years use of our T & D installed pool. I found out that this happens over time and is normal. Thank you

Yes, ours did as well. We filled in cracks and repainted. Looks like new again.

It depends on the size of the cracks as to whether or not it needs to be "resurfaced". All concrete pool decks will have cracks. You will notice them more this type of year, due to the temps. The paint used on the surface expands and contracts. When it gets warm, its amazing how the cracks "disappear".

IMHO, I would be very careful of the new surface, if it is brittle, the crack will probably reappear in a short time. Out neighbors had a finish that looks like lots of pieces of different colored slate. When I asked them about the cracks coming back they told me that if that happens the installers come out and make the crack look like a mortar joint. As mentioned above, for minor cracks, I would use a flexible filler (silicone based, paint-able), and then repaint the area. If you are after a more permanent fix, you may need to have tile (wet location finish) with a crack isolation barrier installed. Our home came with a pool and cool deck that was originally done by T&D. A couple of years later we expanded the lanai and pool cage. T&D did the work. As a part of the process, they filled the stress cracks and repainted the surface. The project was great and they did a nice job. BUT.

We still didn't like that the pool deck always got dirty quickly and was hard to clean. We got a quote from T&D to repaint the following year. Then, we decided to look into repainting the exterior of the house and asked Steve Kling Painting to quote doing the pool deck as well.

We couldn't be more pleased. Kling put sealant into the concrete joints and painted two coats with Sherwin Williams deck paint. The deck stays much cleaner because the dirt isn't coming up through the joints every time it rains. The paint they used was superior and leaves an eggshell finish, which is prettier and easy to clean. Best yet, their price to do the deck was much better than T&D's. (Plus T&D never filled the concrete joints and their quote was for one coat of deck paint.) They also fix the stress cracks. (Although this will be an ongoing process we believe.)

We highly recommend Steve Kling Painting and the Sherwin William paint. The exterior of our house has that extra shine to it too!
