I have them and would not do it.
Why: Why spend $$ on something that does not improve the quality of your life? Why replace a maintenance free item (concrete) with something that requires sealing and sanding every five years. My pre-owned came with them but it wasn't even a remote factor why I chose this home. |

I agree with above, we chose paint, much less maintenance, simple sealing every 5 to 7 years. For paint use $2 per square foot for bare concrete, more if there was a prior finish.

Have had 2 homes both with pavers. I like the aesthetic look, not for everyone. I seal them every 3 years. Luis Landscaping did ours, and did a great job.

Back in the years of 2004-about 2008 there was a company named Old World Pavers that did thousands of homes in TV. Their quality of pavers and install method was extremely poor. Today we still have those pavers on our driveway but they do take an annual replacement of some pavers due to cracking, then the re-sand and reseal to keep them looking good.
If you are thinking about doing pavers make sure they are at least 2 inches thick and are applied where every single paver is sealed to the concrete driveway. You will still need to do the wash/sand and seal at least every other year at a cost of about $175.00 if you do it yourself. |

I also used Old World Pavers, but I have only had 4 break in 10 years. I reseal about every 4 years. They look great. If you like them, get them. Check with Paradise Pavers. I called them last year to seal and he said I was still good for another year.

Stay away from pavers! Terrible investment, high maintenance, breakage, cracking, and sealing. Added horror if you get the thin pavers, they lay them right up to the garage door water barrier. This WILL allow water to enter your garage during rain storms. If you get the large pavers they must break up and remove your concrete driveway and approach. They may not break as easily but you still have to have them sealed correctly.

I had pavers (thick ones) on my old house for 10 years, with only a handful breaking which were changed on when resealing.
Just be sure your contractor leaves you a supply of spare ones.

I just did a search on pavers and came up with this thread. I am under contract, purchasing a home (my first in TV), and while pavers would not have been my choice were I starting from scratch, this home has them. The driveway needs some attention. I would love recommendations for reputable companies to inspect and advise me on course of action.

Thin ones will crack. A wet golf cart will drip and you will get rust spots.
If you drive around you will see paver driveways with a diamond shape in the center. This indicates a driveway that had cracked pavers replaced with good ones from the center. Then the decorative diamond of new pavers replaced the ones that were removed. |

.
. our house, 7 years old and we had pavers installed by (the best) Paradise Pavers & Coping & Walls. VERY reputable - in business 15 years. WE had our pavers and stacked walls done by them and 100% pleased. Never had a problem with cracking etc. Sealing done every 4 years. 6 of our neighbors had Paradise install theirs and ZERO issues. No pressure - and if THIS doesn't tell you what type of business they are - They do not want payment until the job is completely done and you are completely satisfied. Owner is Neil Steinmetz. A+ BB rating. Paradise Pavers, Coping and Wals. Paving Your Way To Paradise! . .
